About NSS-ICIS

The National Safe Schools — Integrated Command & Intelligence System (NSS-ICIS) is an intelligence-driven school-safety platform maintained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Our Mission

NSS-ICIS exists to protect Nigeria's schools through systematic security assessment, real-time threat intelligence, and coordinated rapid response. By maintaining a comprehensive registry of schools with their security posture and vulnerability data, we enable data-driven decisions that keep students and staff safe.

What We Do

  • Maintain a national registry of schools with physical security posture, location, and enrolment data.
  • Capture and track security incidents with severity classification and follow-up coordination.
  • Quantify risk using the School Vulnerability Index (SVI) — a composite score blending security deficits, location risk, exposure, and incident history.
  • Coordinate response by matching NSCDC formations to incidents and high-risk areas.
  • Surface intelligence through dashboards, maps, and analytics to support command decisions.

Coverage

NSS-ICIS operates across all 36 states and the FCT, covering 774 Local Government Areas. The system enforces a chain of command through geographic scoping — from school-level personnel to national command staff.
